Suspend Elections? Pardon Me, Democrats, but Your Mask is Slipping

Well, this is interesting.

Not one but two relatively prominent Democrats have come out in the past few days to suggest that we should violate our own Constitutional law by suspending elections the name of "progress," North Carolina's Governor Bev Perdue and Peter Orszag, President Obama's first Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

To them, government is the wise arbiter of modern American life, always there with a rule or regulation that you must obey for your own good. You're just a bit too stupid to make your own decisions.

As I've mentioned before, there is a psychological flaw in humans that makes them want to control each other, and this is merely the latest example of it. This flaw is the foundation of the political left in America. When you take a look around, you won't find very much of modern American life that doesn't fall under some law or another.

As Andy over at Ace's place succinctly observes, there is a massive push from Washington and this administration to control virtually everything you do.

This control fetish comes through in almost everything they support. Take, for example, mass transit, which involves moving herds of people from point A to point B on a fixed schedule. Meanwhile, with a car I'm free to go where I want when I want. Mass transit = control; automobiles = freedom.

The left has gone so far as to subvert the scientific method to try to scare you into believing your car is destroying the planet to get you to commit untold billions of dollars to mass transit schemes (among other stupidity). It's not about the planet; it's about control.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. In fact, if you looked at it that way, the whole of human history is a battle between those who want to control others and those who simply wish to be left alone to live their lives peacefully as they see fit.

These control freaks cannot grasp the simple concept that there are people who have their own, built-in self-control. These increasingly rare people don't need laws to tell them what's right and what's wrong. They just know it instinctively and live it every day. The thought of killing, or robbing, or doing anything to anyone else they wouldn't want done to themselves is abhorrent to them.

To the radical left (which is all that remains of the Democrat party these days), these intelligent, self-reliant, morally centered people just don't exist. Everyone is a savage-in-waiting.

Everyone except them, of course.

These control freaks seem like good people. They all hide behind a mask of respectability. From a distance, they look normal enough. But, give them just a whiff of power, and the mask comes off.

At least, now we know who two of them are.

Some Good News and Some Bad News

Good mornin', y'all.

OK, I'll get the bad news out of the way first. There are more Americans living in poverty than ever.

The ranks of America's poor swelled to almost 1 in 6 people last year, reaching a new high as long-term unemployment left millions of Americans struggling and out of work. The number of uninsured edged up to 49.9 million, the biggest in more than two decades.
More bad news: this was from last year. 2010. Is there any doubt that it's gotten worse since then?

Obama's jobs bill is just more of the same old failed Keynesian bullshit belief that the government can create jobs. It can, but only for the government. I'm hopeful that the country is about to discover that it's really the private sector that is the generator of jobs. As we all should know by now, as exemplified by the Solyndra debacle, that any direct stimulus of jobs is temporary, and that the jobs disappear when the subsidies dry up.

And speaking of Solyndra, Obama is under the microscope, as more details come out about this failed attempt to construct our economy around another failed idea. (Via Drudge.)

You'd think that after some thirty years of trying to compete in the free market, and meeting with, shall we say, something less than success, somebody in Washington would've figured out that there are better places to put the peoples' money. But when your a Crony Capitalist like Obama, what's a few hundred million between political friends and bundlers? It's not like it's their own money or anything.

Now the good news. The special election for disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner's seat in New York has a winner, Republican Bob Turner. That seat hasn't been in Republican hands since the 1920's.

Talk about a sea change, this is going to leave a mark for sure. It's as much a rebuke of Obama and the Democrats as anything we've seen so far. Oh, the White House will try to spin this, but there's no escaping the fact that the country is awake to the damaging horrors of leftism and is ready to change course dramatically. We're getting a big lesson in what not to do when it comes to politicians and their governing philosophies. We got dragged way to the left, and we're just now finding out how and why big government cannot work.

When we get a larger government, we get more restrictions placed on our economy. How's that working out? It's a simple rule, almost too simple for anyone inside the Beltway to comprehend. What we need (and I firmly believe we'll demand in 2012) is for government to be drastically reduced in size and influence. We've progressed to the point where something that was seemingly unthinkable only a few years ago is gaining widespread acceptance, namely the elimination of entire sectors of the federal government. I doubt seriously if anyone would miss the EPA, or the Department of Education, or the National Endowment for the Arts.

If this notion is fully embraced, it signals a bright future for the nation. There is so much pent up demand in the private sector, when it's unleashed, the world will see just how well capitalism can work for the people. We truly have an opportunity to lift ourselves and the rest of the world out of the economic mess we've inflicted upon ourselves by electing the wrong people into power.

I can't wait.

It's coming, this American Renewal. The spirit is there, patiently waiting to be rediscovered.

We truly are different than the rest of the world, and we're about to prove it in a good way.

Let the Games Begin – Obama Launches His 2012 Reelection Campaign

(h/t Ace of Spades HQ)

This video can barely contain all the enthusiasm. Confidence virtually drips from the monitor. Can you feel the Hope, or maybe that’s the Change, it’s hard to tell.

The script is telling, coming almost exclusively from women,

“The last couple of elections have been almost turning point campaigns.”

“Kinda nervous about it.”

“I think it needs to reflect the changes we’ve seen in the last two and a half years.”

“I can’t not be involved. There’s just too much too much that’s fundamentally important right now that’s going on.”

“I don’t agree with Obama on everything, but I respect him and I trust him.”

Well, Ed from North Carolina, right there’s your mistake…

The rest of those well-rehearsed lines contain about as much intelligence as one can expect from an Obama supporter: There’s no “there” there. Vapid, rambling, bordering on incoherent, all in all, it’s the perfect Obama campaign ad.

Three years ago, all this worked on an unsuspecting country. After eight years of continuous Bush-bashing by the MBM (Make Believe Media), we’d been softened up to the point where Bill the Dead Cat could’ve won the election.

We got his cousin instead.

While the DNC and Obama think they can get by this time with more gauzy platitudes and indistinct goals, the rest of us know better. We have a bit more data with which to measure this administration.

The Conservative Candidate for 2012 – Mr. Issues

Warning, warning, Will Robinson! My sensors have detected a long post ahead!

Since President Obama has unofficially kicked off his reelection campaign for 2012, it’s time for us conservatives to begin to plan our strategy.

In our oblivious past, we’ve considered our presidential candidates based on superficial qualities, such as who has the better appearance, or speaking voice or the best suit-and-tie combination (or pantsuit). Much like the Queen of the Prom, we’ve chosen our president based on who we thought would look good standing next to us for the prom picture, rather than who would be best qualified to set our national agenda.

Much of this tendency had to do with our belief that whomever we elected would automatically do what was in our best national interests. However, the election of Barack Obama has shown us the error of this presumption, good and hard.

Hope and Change proved to be the ultimate in political superficiality.

Such gauzy platitudes only disguised a leftward lurch the likes of which we’ve never before experienced, at least in my lifetime. Most of us who weren’t paying attention, the 52% of the public that voted for Obama, have reached the grim realization that we’ve been had. Behind the classic columns and soaring rhetoric lurked a most decidedly anti-American dedication to Big Government. Takeovers of General Motors and Chrysler, the college loan system, Wall Street and health care caught the nation by surprise. Aided and encouraged by the worst leaders in congressional history, president Obama set a course toward European-style Socialism that has proven to be an unparalleled disaster for our country.

We are now suffering from record high unemployment, record numbers of Americans on food stamps, record numbers of Americans living in poverty, millions of homes in foreclosure and more on the way, the spectre of mass businesses foreclosures following suit and more, all as the result of the American ship of state listing hard to port.

By every measure, we’ve failed ourselves in spectacular fashion. It seemed like we had to have our generational fling with Socialism. Now, it’s the morning after, and all that’s left is a hastily scribbled note on the nightstand containing a promise to call, a fifty-dollar bill next to it, and a severe headache.

And some soreness...

But all is not lost. November’s mid-term elections showed that we’ve finally had enough of this nonsense. We voted for a course change back to our original destination.

We’re not fully back on course yet, which is why the 2012 presidential election is so important. The political winds have shifted, making our course correction a bit easier. Americans who stated their political affiliation are fleeing the Democrat Party in numbers not seen in recent history.

However, the lefts’ willing accomplice, the Mainstream Media Machine, is already on the job. Candidates are being propped up in front of the electorate in their attempt to get Republicans to nominate the weakest opponent possible for Obama, thus insuring a four-year delay in reaching our national port-of-call.

I’m going out on the yardarm here to suggest a different tack. Let’s look a bit deeper at what needs to be done and then pick a candidate that best understands the navigational charts and who can at least avoid the icebergs. Our current captain can’t even read the compass.

In other words, we need to establish what needs to be done, and then find the best person to do it. We need no longer pick the lesser of two evils. We have an opportunity that we haven’t had in recent election cycles to nominate a true conservative for president.

We already have a good idea, given that we’ve experienced two years of what not to do. Actually, if you count the takeover of Congress by progressive Democrats in 2007, we’ve had four years of misdirection and disaster. You could easily say, “Oh, well, just do the opposite of what’s been done the last four years and we’ll be on our way.” Um, that’s the old way of thinking. We need to not only undo the damage done by the worst congress in history, we need to state in no uncertain terms what needs to be done, then set about to find someone do it.

A checklist, if you will, for a potential candidate to fill out.

We need to say, "Here's what we want done. Will you do it?" If not, then on to the next one until we find a presidential candidate who has a clear vision of the future for America and will know what is expected of him or her.

No bullshit, no excuses, no vagarities, no confusion.

Just a straight-up, "yes or no" on a national agenda that puts Americans first.

To be continued tomorrow...

Whew, We Did It

Yesterday was a great day in American political history, and an important one, too. The country spoke out and said not only "No" but "Hell No!".

Let's take a quick look at what we did:

We stopped the hard left turn that Obama, Reid, and Pelosi have been turning the country towards against our will.

And speakering of Pelosi, she is no longer the Speaker of the House. Her deathgrip on the gavel is no more.

Harry Reid is quaking in his oversized shoes.

Russ Feingold is now a regular citizen.

The Idiot Alan Grayson is gone.

Republicans picked up 61 seats in the House to take control away from Democrats.

Tea Party candidates made a respectable showing for a nascent movement.

Marco Rubio and Colonel Alan West were elected to Congress.

Twenty-seven states now have Republican governors.

Did we conservatives get everything we wanted? No. Have you ever gone fishing and caught all the fish?

We did, however, do something vitally important for the country: we sent a message.

We're back!

Note: Today starts the move into the new digs, and along with it short or nonexistent posts for a few weeks, for real this time. You can always visit some of my blog buddies on the list in the sidebar. I promise I'll be back as soon as possible. This blogging thing is worse than crack, not that I'd know, or anything. Anyway, have fun.

Today is the Day! Go Vote!

Has it been two years? It seems like much longer, but today is the day we've been waiting for.

Vote! Vote like your life depends on it (which it does, but you know that already).

As if you needed any reminders what you're voting against, here ya go,

I'm keeping today's post short, because I know you'll be busy at the polls.

Here's one final video, a little ditty to take with you,

Now, go, git, vamoose, hightail it outahere. Your country needs you.

Friday Bits of Tid, Is Something Happening Next Tuesday? Edition

I've heard of something going on next Tuesday. Something about some election or something. Anyway, I'm sure ya'll tell me all about it on Wednesday.

Paul, the Psychic Octopus, has gone to that big aquarium in the sky. With a detour into a frying pan first, no doubt. We hardly knew ye...

Tell me, do you feel...lucky? Israeli lottery hits same numbers twice in one month.

I''m sure this has nothing to do with Halloween. A class at the Universtiy of Baltimore is entitled Zombies 101. Nothing at all.

It's Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. "OK honey, here's how you pick a lock."

Duude. Like Officer, this weed just doesn't cut it, man. You try a hit and tell me what you think.

Really, really old toothpaste.

Alotta Felina.

This demands action! The looming Bacon Crisis.

And finally, Johnny Cash reincarnated...

Hang your head and cry. Have a good weekend, y'all.

Tea Party Calling Thurston Howell III…Hmm, The Line’s Busy Again

UPDATED*

Last nights’ Republican primaries resulted in upset wins for Tea Party candidates running against established incumbents, with Christine O’Donnell being the biggest surprise, winning over long-time Delaware Representative Mike Castle. Other Tea Party nominees also won in New York and New Hampshire.

Heh heh, not too shabby for a party that technically doesn’t exist.

No official national spokeshuman. No official Political Action Committee. No money, at least compared to the national GOP and Dems.

Just ideas, and simple ones at that: Reduce the size and scope of government, be fiscally responsible, keep our friends close and our enemies within visual range, drastically reduce Washington’s footprint on our daily lives by sticking to a strict interpretation of our Constitution. You know, all that knuckle-dragging, far-right-wing-nut radical stuff that’s so old and worn out.

If there’s a down side to last night’s latest Red Wave, it’s the news that the GOP won’t be helping Christine O’Donnell in her battle for the Delaware Senate seat formerly held by the Democrat’s version of Forrest Gump, Joe Biden, proving once again that the American public is far ahead of the Washington establishment.

Why can’t Michael Steele and company catch up to mainstream conservative/American thought?

For years, conservatives have been told that they need to establish a “big tent” strategy to include as many folk as possible. Republican party leaders admitted that they'd allowed themselves to be mischaracterized as a tight clique of blue-blooded, aristocratic snobs for generations. Despite GOP support for such groundbreaking human rights legislation as the Civil Rights Act and the abolition of slavery, Democrats managed to portray everyone in the GOP as Thurston Howell III. This enabled them to appeal to a wider demographic as the party of the little guy and it worked for a long time, particularly in the South where I grew up as the product of a Dixiecrat. “There are always good times when a Democrat is in office” was a phrase I heard often from my mother.

Nowhere was this more evident than in George McGovern’s presidential campaign in 1972 when he famously lamented that fat-cat businessmen could deduct the cost of their three-martini lunch while Joe Six-Pack couldn’t deduct the price of his ham sandwich.

However, in recent years, the pendulum has swung in the other direction and Democrats are now the party of Big Money. Curiously, they still push the image as being a friend of the working man, even when the anti-Christ, billionaire George Soros, famous for his radical left-wing views and history of destroying entire country's monetary systems, is funding the Democrat machine. Think Progress and Media Matters are but two of his organizations committed to turning America into one of his holding companies with every American as a minimum-wage-slave, along with the aid of somebody called Barack Obama.

Our current recession/depression has had a profound effect on the national psyche, due in equal parts to the alarm of working folks losing half their retirement accounts overnight and all the spare time the large numbers of unemployed find on their hands. Everybody’s suffering in one form or another and this has led to a conservative awakening of epic, nay, Biblical proportions. The “big tent” theory wound up being a sort of Democrat-Lite version of the GOP where we were offered RINOs in large numbers in an effort to capitalize on the growing number of Americans who called themselves Democrats. The GOP was after the soft, chewy center of independent voters who just can’t seem to find their own set of values and tend to follow the crowd right off the cliff.

Today’s American voter has been the recipient of this Republican moderation, good and hard. Going along to get along with a Democrat party that has no interest in the little guy is what got us into this mess. The so-called “ruling class” is overwhelmingly left-liberal while the country leans to the right. This disparity has led to the outright political revolt that has become the Tea Party movement where RINOs are no longer welcome.

The issues are now what matters. The candidates’ track record is on display instead of their rhetoric. The nation wants action, not promises. We want a government that actually acts on our behalf, benefitting the majority and ignoring the delusional screams of the various left-wing radical groups and their manufactured outrage.

We want the tide to rise so everyone’s ship can get off this reef.

*UPDATE - John Cornyn pledges NSRC support for O'Donnell. Yay!

What We Don't Want in Washington

The upcoming elections this November will be the most important election held in our lifetime. Four years will have passed since the Democrats regained control of Congress and two years will have passed since the Annointing of The One to the Presidency.

So, it's about time we asked ourselves a national question: are we better off now than we were four, or even two, years ago?

While this question has been asked before, most notably by Ronaldus Maximus, at no time has the answer been more clear. The answer is a resounding "No!".

Pick an issue, any issue. Our situation is bad and getting worse with each passing day. This administration is toxic to traditional American values, as if someone else from a different country were running things and had never heard of individual freedom. Each new piece of legislation that comes from Capitol Hill not only fails to adequately address issues, but actually reduces the freedom of every American and compounds the problem.

Our economy is suffering. The solutions are as simple as they are straightforward. Lower taxes and reduced governmental red tape. But has anyone in this Democrat controlled Congress offered to do the things that must be done to get our economy back on solid ground? Look at the latest unemployment figures for your answer. It's like Washington is collectively blind, deaf and dumb to the ills of the nation and the suffering of its' people.

Why did we get a massively expensive and unnecessary new program like ObamaCare in place of genuine action to salvage the economy and despite the protestations of the majority of Americans? Why do those in power continue to act in ways that defy common sense? Perhaps this video will help explain our current situation.

(h/t Ace of Spades HQ)

This is a prime example of the arrogance of our elite ruling class. This Congressman, Bob Etheridge (D-NC) should be sitting in a jail cell for assault and battery. He should be censured, then impeached. He has acted in a manner that has brought shame to the office he holds. He has insulted each and every American whom he claims to serve.

The sad part is that his views concerning those of us who dare question the motives and actions of those we send to Washington are shared by most of the progressives who have managed to lie their way into office. They do not represent the people of their districts, do not hold American values close to their hearts and certainly do not value the Constitution. If they did, you would never see this kind of arrogance and disrespect shown to anyone.

If this idiot is reelected, then the people of North Carolina should be ashamed of themselves, for they have sent the exact wrong type of person to Washington.

How can we begin to expect a solution to our national problems from an arrogant bastard like that?

Election Results Show America Has A Feevah

If we can't sacrifice a virgin (like we could find one in Washington), any incumbent will do.

Yesterday's election results are an indicator of things to come in November. Here's a roundup of some of the carnage:

Rand Paul, son of Texas Congressman Ron Paul, won the Republican primary in Kentucky in a flexing of Tea Party muscle. His opponent, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, was hand-picked by the GOP and had the backing of a few prominent Republicans whom you may have heard of before, namely Mitch McConnell and some dude named Dick Cheney.

Arkansas incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln is forced into a runoff with Lt. Governor Bill Halter. Halter's running to the left of Lincoln, as if that were possible, and is funded by far-left radical/antiChrist billionaire George Soros.

Good news, bad news - the vacant seat created by the death of traitor John Murtha was won by former Murtha aide Mark Critz, another Democrat. The good news is he has to defend his seat again in November. This win was sorta predictable according to those in the know up there.

And in a harbinger of what's to come for Charlie Crist, Snarlin' Arlen Spector was defeated in the Democrat primary by Rep. Joe Sestak, who now faces Pat Toomey in the general election in November. Toomey is ahead in the polls. Specter, you may remember, switched parties in a desperate attempt to save his political bacon last year. He's a long-time RINO who voted with the Dems more often than not. He will not be missed.

We're just getting warmed up. This Novembers' election will be one of the most important mid-terms in recent history. America has had enough of HopenChange and is looking to stop the hard tack to the left that Obama has taken the country against its will. This blog looks forward to a major reorientation in Congress if not outright taking back the House. Should this occur, Obama will be a lame duck until he's thrown out in 2012. Gridlock will become the nations' best friend in the mean time.

Not only does November have the potential of repeating the Republican victory in 1994, it may set back the cause of "progressivism" in American politics for a generation, a very good thing. It hasn't taken long for the effects of that wretched abortion to ruin the country, and it's not too late to correct the damage and return us to the course our Founding Fathers set over 200 years ago: a course set by the free individual citizen, not some out-of-touch elitist in Washington.

Remember, anything the government has done, the government can undo.

The Great Obama Repudiation of '09

With the first unofficial midterm elections over, Obama has received a resounding smackdown. Many pundits, myself included, think that yesterday's election was the first opportunity for voters to voice their displeasure with Obama and the Democrats' mishandling of the country. Chris Christie won the governors' race in New Jersey. Virginia rediscovered the joys of Republicanism in their gubernatorial race with a win by Bob McDonnell.

Although the Democrat won in New York's 23rd district, a message was sent to the national GOP: only fiscal conservatives need apply. Dede Scozzafava's endorsement of the Democrat in that race shows why she was a poor pick for conservatives in the area. She was just a Democrat, as her endorsement of liberal policies proved. How she wound up as the Republican is a mystery to a lot of folks. Perhaps the national GOP will remember who endorsed her and actually offer up some genuine fiscal conservatives in the future.

Naturally, Dems will disregard any win by Republicans as something far less than it is. Look forward to the spin machine running at full speed in an attempt to minimize the damage to liberals and their agenda to destroy the country.
