Land for Peace? What Happened to Being "Citizens of the World?"

I don't often delve into foreign affairs, seeing as how we have enough problems here at home to solve. But something dawned on me yesterday.

The Palestinians will go before that august body of anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism, the United Nations, to declare war on Israel demand statehood. Their claim is over land.

I find it curious that, in this era of non-citizenship, we're all supposed to be good global citizens, think globally and act locally and all that. It's the reason why those on the left believe that the idea of being a patriotic American is an archaic, outdated one.

In order to be terminally hip, you're not supposed to be nationalistic in any way, shape, or form. The land upon which you live isn't supposed to be any better or any worse than where anyone else lives. All cultures are equal and all are equally good, isn't that the basic premise of multiculturalism? Aren't we supposed to be one, big, happy, global family?

Why, then, are one select group exempted from this New World Order? Why do the Palestinians get to demand that their land is superior to the land of the Israelis? Shouldn't that notion be, you know, outdated?

American schoolchildren aren't exposed to anything that resembles accurate American history, as far as I can see. One child was prohibited recently from bringing an American flag to his school in the name of safety. That dangerous stick thingy that holds the flag could be used as a weapon, donchaknow. It's not like a pencil, whose sharp, pointy end could be (and has been) used as a real weapon (on me). Any excuse will do, as long as it works to foster the notion of America as the world's bad guy.

But the Palestinians can demand that they live in Israel? Let's forget for a moment that their governing body is aligned with a terrorist organization that has pledged to wipe Israel off the map. Let's also forget that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and has the booming economy to prove it. Do you think there would be more prosperity in the Mideast if the surrounding countries were truly free?

Can you say, "double standard?" I knew that you could.

Friday Bits of Tid - Obama Screws Israel Edition

After President Obama's speech yesterday that basically endorsed terrorist groups against Israel, wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall in the White House today when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with Jimmy Carter Junior?

I think Obama's speech should answer any questions about Obama's religion once and for all.

Oh, well, let us tid in peace.

As if we didn't have enough to worry about, the CDC is now saying be prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse. I guess they can't keep them contained inside the halls of Congress anymore.

Police get a break in the search for those dastardly fryer grease thieves. "Officers noticed the tank "smelled like old, stale french fries." That used to be called a "dead giveaway."

Police comb city for mullet-wearing bandit. Robbery in the front, felony in the back.

Dangerous watermelons.

Prague Zoo sells peanut fertilizer elephant dung.

Technology is a wonderful thing. A paralyzed student walks to graduation. Man gets new bionic hand. As Insty says, more of this, please.

Duude, check this out. Like, some dude named Stoner got busted for, um, uh, I'll remember it in a minute, man. Anyway, dude, it was, like, really funny, man.

What the well-dressed Seal Team 6 dog is wearing this season.

And finally, the World's Most Useless Machine.

Y'all do have a good 'un, y'heah.

Why All the Lies About Israel?

Let me see if I have this straight.

Hamas runs Gaza. Hamas declared open war against Israel two years ago. Israel closely controls material going into Gaza to keep out arms sent there by Syria and Iran, among them the many rockets that rain down upon the innocent people of Israel daily.

Hamas claims that there's no aid reaching the people thanks to the Israeli government (a falsity), so a flotilla is organized by the same terrorist group that helped with the Millennium bomb plot at LAX airport. They claim they're on a humanitarian mission, however, when they are told to comply with IDF commands to observe the naval blockade against Gaza, their ship is boarded where the "humanitarians" proceed to fight the IDF forces with weapons that they just happen to have aboard. These weapons include knives, metal rods, and firebombs.

Israel, in taking all the legal steps to keep her enemies disarmed and her borders safe, is roundly condemned by the UN and other countries in the Middle East who are openly hostile to Israel, if they recognizer her at all. The flotilla's organizers as much as declared that their intentions were not humanitarian, but meant to break the blockade.

So, Israel defends herself against her sworn enemies and is accused of a "massacre" when a shipful of terrorists attempts to invade her shores.

There's something backwards about all this...
