Today marks the beginning of the college football season.
My cousins back home in Alabama (which would be the entire state) will pack up the grill and make the trek to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas for tonight's game against the Michigan Wolverines. It should be a good game, as are all of them.
And in NASCAR news, Ty Dillon won his first truck race last night at Atlanta. The Nationwide race is tonight and the Winston Sprint Cup race is Sunday night, both early races.
May your team win, unless, of course, you're playing against my Tide.
It's that time of year again. The college football conference champs have been decided and the bowl bids have gone out. Auburn looks to be on their way to a national championship, at least for a while, unless something else comes out concerning Cam Newton's situation. My Crimson Tide will be playing in the Capital One Bowl down here in O'town on New Years' Day. Dear Santa, I've been a good boy all year...
But tomorrow, the Army - Navy game wraps up the season. Kickoff is at 2:30 pm. It's hard for me to pick sides in this game, as there is no real loser, IYKWIM.
The overreach of this administration is negatively affecting everyone, including rock and roll bands. This link is notable not so much for the interview as much as it includes the phrase "conservative musician."
Today is the birthday of America's first auto racing winner, Frank Duryea. He, along with his brother, also created the very first American car company. So, do a burnout in recognition.
Look. Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a football!
According to the crawler on one of the ESPN channels last night our most recent Heisman Trophy winner, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, will sit out tomorrow's game against Brownie Troop #318 San Jose State with a knee injury. Get well soon, Mark, your team has a national title to defend.
After 17 years, the Crimson Tide of Alabama won the BCS National Championship last night. Texas quaterback Colt McCoy was injured in the first quarter of play, forcing the Longhorns to install true freshman QB Garret Gilbert. Talk about baptism by fire. I was impressed with him after he got settled and began to look much like McCoy, throwing two touchdown passes. The Tide's defense was overwhelming in the end.
It's time for a break from the world of politics, if just for a day. Tonight, the Crimson Tide of Alabama take on the Texas Longhorns in the BCS National Championship Game.
As a proud product of the State of Alabama, I'll be in front of the TV wearing all my regalia and cheering on my Tide like momma taught me. This will be Bama's first National Championship of this century, so don't miss it.
In my travels on this Interweb thingy today, I found some posts you might like to read.
