The reality of 2009 is full of broken promises.
Perhaps you remember this campaign promise from a 2008 debate:
That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are, because part of what we have to do is enlist the American people in this process.
Well, C-SPAN remembered and issued a letter to Congressional leadership asking to televise the proceedings as promised.
Will this promise be upheld? I wouldn't hold my breath...
With the most invasive legislation in history being "debated" behind closed doors, against the will of most Americans, is it any wonder that there are calls for a general strike?
