It should be noted that they gained popularity by playing American songs, as did many of the British Invasion groups of the era. They named themselves after a tune by Muddy Waters called Rollin' Stone (aka Catfish Blues). Naturally, this would pass as the lads started penning their own material.
The British Blues Invasion, which came just a couple of years later, introduced American blues to the new generation of baby-boomers over here.
